Private 5G is typically justified when you need deterministic latency, high mobility across large areas, or dedicated spectrum without interference concerns. Industrial automation, autonomous vehicles, and mission-critical IoT are common drivers. Wi-Fi remains more cost-effective for general enterprise connectivity where latency requirements are less strict.
CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) is shared spectrum in the 3.5 GHz band that allows private LTE/5G deployments without purchasing licensed spectrum. General Authorized Access (GAA) tier is free to use; Priority Access Licenses (PAL) provide protected spectrum in specific areas. For many private network use cases, GAA is sufficient.

Solutions may include directional antennas, increased AP density, DAS, or alternative frequencies (2.4 GHz penetrates better than 5/6 GHz in some materials).
